July 2015 - Bedford Plcae Vintage Fair

I was asked by Heather from Target Health Group to set up a stall with my art in her Yoga studio at Bedford Place, on magical vintage fair day. I set up my table with my friend Alix De Courcy with work to sell, but I also make a little space for fair guests to release their creative imagination by finishing drawing that I started with 'my' characteristic face, which can be observed in my art many times. My art project was mainly done by little artists but I had some drawings made by adults as well, which was very interested to see how different age groups and backgrounds can finish drawing where they have the same starting point. I was surprised how people see my image in different way and how they turn it around to finish the drawing. Also it was such a nice day and we had free herbal tea!

June 2015 Soton Magazine Commission

'Greta was commissioned to create an illustration to support a feature in the debut issue of Soton magazine. The publication is the product of the Magazine Journalism course at Southampton Solent University. As a first class honours graduate with a recognisable style and impressive portfolio, Greta was an obvious choice for us. She interpreted the brief with ease, producing illustrations for our judgement quicker than we could have imagined. Willing to make adaptations to suit, Greta was highly professional throughout. We’re very pleased to have her work in the magazine and look forward to working with her again in the future. '- Feedback from Alice Freeman and Iga Kozakiewicz, Editors of Soton magazine

May 2015 Project for Southampton Solent Gallery 'My City'

Today’s ‪#‎Southamptoninspired‬ artwork is entitled “My City” and was drawn by Greta Staron. This is what Greta has to say about why she made this drawing, and how Southampton has been integral to her artistic development and inspiration: “I've made this piece fuelled by my positive thoughts of Southampton because I feel that this city has created me as an artist and has given me the opportunity to be myself. It is where I have stepped into the grown up world. Southampton is the place where my creativity was born. In 2007 when I emigrated here, from a little village in Poland, I was scared, young, angry and naive... But after a few years of funny language, different buildings, different people, I now feel like Southampton is my place and my City. I am totally inspired by the signs and old drawings of Southampton, the Bargate Monument, the lions and everything I pass every day!! I am grateful of everything that this City has given me, so I would like to give something of myself back to Southampton, in the form of my art. This City was always my new beginning...”

September 2014 Student Residency - Exhibition at Southampton Showcase Gallery

September 2014 Student Residency - Exhibition at Southampton Showcase Gallery

My project was based on a motivational poem by Steve Maraboli titled ‘Why Not You’? I wanted to touch on a universal subject: ‘fear’ in our contemporary world. By producing a series of images I want to give some space for the viewers to think about their lives and show that nothing can stop us from making amazing things every day. Visualisation of this poem was also my own way through my development in art. Using a full range of colours I made my own world and characters and each painting represents one line of the poem. So remember... Today is a new day! Many will seize this day. Many will live it to the fullest.

February 2014 Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad

February 2014 Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad

I was working on Book Illustration Competition 2014 launched by The Folio Society and House of Illustration last September. Heart of Darkness (1899) is a novella by Anglo-Polish novelist Joseph Conrad, about a voyage up the Congo Riverinto the Belgian Congo, in the heart of Africa, by the story's narrator Marlow. Marlow tells his story to friends aboard a boat anchored on the River Thames, London, England. This setting provides the frame for Marlow's story of his obsession with the ivory trader Kurtz, which enables Conrad to create a parallel between London and Africa as places of darkness. Medium : Etching
